Start where you are
Every area has its own page, written around the way it is actually worked with here.
Our team
Every profile says plainly who that therapist works best with, and who they would send elsewhere. Have a read, then book a first conversation with whoever sounds right.
Nobody matches all of those at once. Try dropping a filter, or book a first conversation and we will work it out with you.
Before you ask
A free first conversation by phone or secure video, booked online yourself. No intake forms before it, and no obligation to book anything after it.
Published here rather than sent on request. Couples sessions are 75 minutes at $215. A limited number of reduced fee spots are held at all times, and asking for one costs you nothing.
Sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker are covered by most extended health plans in Ontario. We direct bill where your insurer allows it and give you a receipt where they do not.
In person in Anytown, or by secure video anywhere in Ontario. You can move between the two, and plenty of people do.
Let us know a day ahead and there is no charge. Life happens, and a first missed session is never billed.

Common questions
No. You can book a free first conversation online yourself, and you can book a full session without ever speaking to a doctor. A referral is only needed if your insurer specifically asks for one.
You do not have to know. Book a first conversation with whoever reads well to you, and if someone else here is a better fit we will say so and introduce you. That happens often and nobody minds.
Most people booking a first conversation have not. There is nothing to prepare and no right way to describe what is going on. Starting with I am not sure how to explain this is completely normal.
Yes, with the narrow exceptions every regulated therapist in Ontario is held to: a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, the abuse of a child, or a court order. We will explain those in plain terms in your first session.
It varies honestly. Some people come for six or eight sessions with something specific in mind. Others stay longer. We review where things are at every few months rather than letting it drift, and ending is a conversation, not a form.
On a live site this is the clinic's own calendar and their clients book straight into it. Basswood Counselling is a demonstration practice, so this button books a 30 minute walkthrough with Shane Johnston at Bolder Future instead.
You have reached the end of the private Basswood Counselling concept. Below is a note from the team that built it.
Everything you just explored is a working preview of a complete digital front desk for your practice. Clients start from what they are experiencing, understand which services fit, choose their own therapist, and book a free first conversation... with Maya answering approved questions at any hour. She never diagnoses, never provides counselling, and never chooses a therapist for anyone.
